Nineteen combined program records fall as Barton Swimming wraps up fall season at Hendrix Invitational #GoBarton

Heading into their final meet of the fall season, Head Coach Jonathan Reeder unleashed his Cougars this weekend in Conway, Arkansas, as the 3rd ranked Barton Community College swimming program brought home a men's title and a women's runner-up placing at the Hendrix Invitational.

Claiming three of the four relay events while battling the waves in the two-day event, the highly talented Cougar men earned the title for the second straight year in accumulating 1005 points, nearly doubling up host school Hendrix College's 542 point total.

The Barton women nearly gave the Cougars a sweep of the team title, falling just 53.5 points shy of Hendrix College's 732.5 winning point total.

Nearly twenty program records were washed ashore with seven coming from the women in capturing ten individual while rewriting twenty-four new personal records over the two day event.

Barton claimed all four relay events as the tandem of McKayla Siemiller and Fanny Courbot capped off big weekends for the Cougars combining for nine golds, each earning a pair individually. Siemiller accounted for titles in the 50 free while setting a new school record in the 100 backstroke. Courbot earned her pair in the 100 breaststroke and new program best in the 200 breaststroke. The duo teamed with Cassandre Zenon and Elizabeth Spitz topping a program record (1:48.74) claiming the 200 medley relay.

Barton's other individual titles came in the 100 IM as Elizabeth Spitz turned in a (1:01.60) and Elizabeth Schrock clocked in a new personal best in the 200 free (2:02.30).

The Barton men dominated the pool with fifteen titles in the twenty events including three of the four relay events. Shattering twelve school records, the Cougars also set an astonishing forty-three new personal bests.

Carlon McClerkin collected a team high count of four gold medals over the weekend with Ryan Downing, David Garcia, Nikolas Ioannides, Albert Kasprzyk and Christopher Sprenger earning the individual gold medal count with two titles each.

Barton will have a month away from competition until its next meet on January 11 in St. Louis, Missouri, for a dual meet against the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
