The 8th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team rode a pair of Tajay Grant second half goals earning a 2-1 victory over Dodge City Community College Saturday afternoon from the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Avenging its 4-2 earlier loss in Dodge City, the Cougars improve to 7-1-0 to remain tied atop the KJCCC West standings and move to 13-2-0 on the season while the Conquistadors drop to 3-4-0 in league play and 8-5-0 overall. Barton will head back out on the road Wednesday evening for a key Jayhawk West battle against 4th ranked Cowley College with opening kick slated for 7:00 p.m.

Scoreless at the midway point, the Cougars would break through first 8:33 into the second stanza when Grant cleaned up Victor Lucca's blocked shot with a near post tap in.

The lead would last for 17:29 as the Conquistadors caught the Barton defense collapsing on a loose ball to the left side of the box as Janik Buch's through ball found the unmarked foot of Marllon Lopez for an empty net strike.

Just 6:59 later Grant would strike for the second time on the backend banging home Francesco Boher's recoiled shot attempt for his team leading 13th of the season putting the Cougars in front for good.

Notching his fifth straight victory, goalkeeper Dennis Bottcher improved to 10-2 in net while making five saves on six shots faced.
