Barton's Grant garners second KJCCC Player of the Week award #GoBarton

Tajay Grant Week 7 KJCCC Player of the Week

Tajay Grant of the 9th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team has been named the week seven KJCCC Division I Player of the Week.

The award for Grant is the second of the season for the sophomore and the third for first year Head Coach Rafael Simmons' Cougars as Lucas Constante garnered the week five distinction.

Grant, the club's leading scorer on the season, again made key contributions with two net shakers and an assist in the Cougars' pair of road conference victories. Starting the week off with a 1-0 victory at Garden City, Grant initiated the game winning marker on a near-side cross setting up Genildo Postimo's strike. Sitting out in Friday's non-conference match, the sophomore helped erase a 2-0 second half deficit Saturday evening at 13th ranked Coffeyville by notching a pair of goals in a span of 24-minutes extending his points streak to five straight games. Two minutes later with the momentum fully shifted to the Cougars, forcing a turnover with the passing of Genildo Postimo and Baptiste Susini setting up Victor Lucca for the game winner on a midflight volley with eleven minutes remaining.

Barton's sixth straight win improves the Cougars to 6-1 in conference and 12-2 overall.

Next on the slate is another ranked opponent as the Cougars seek revenge for their only conference loss in welcoming 14th ranked Dodge City Community College to Cougar Field on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off. The Conquistadors handed Barton a 4-2 defeat back on September 7 in Dodge City.
