Late goal spoils 6th ranked Cougars' regular season finale #GoBarton

Barton men's soccer player Pedro Maximiano battles a Cloud County player for possession

In a battle between two perennial powers of the Jayhawk Conference, an 87th minute goal was the difference maker as the 6th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team was knocked off 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at Cloud County Community College.

The loss concludes the Cougars' regular season as Jayhawk West Champions at 8-2-0 and 11-2-1 overall while Cloud County locks up the second place in the West at 7-2-1 improving to 10-4-1 overall.

Barton will have a long layover before returning to the pitch in hosting Region VI first round playoff action on Sunday, October 27, against an opponent yet determined.

The lone goal was set up as Cougar defender Kieran Annandale was body checked to the grass leaving the T-Bird's Brian Carrera free creating a 1-on-1 attempt against Barton keeper Marco Seyfert. Coming up big in rejecting Carrera's laser, the rebound found its way past a slipping Cougar defender leaving Felipe D'Agostini to rattle the nets for an open rocket launch to the far post game winner past a diving Seyfert.
