Barton men secure 10th Jayhawk West title, 5th Ranked Cougars shutout Pratt #GoBarton

Barton men's soccer celebrating the program's 10th Jayhawk West Championship

The Barton Community College men's soccer team captured the program's tenth Jayhawk West crown on Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex with a 3-0 shutout over Pratt Community College.

The victory gives Barton a game and a half lead in the West with one game remaining on the regular season schedule as the Cougars to 8-1-0 in league and 11-1-1 overall while Pratt slides to 1-6-1 and 3-10-1 on the season.

Barton wraps up play before postseason on Wednesday as the Cougars make the trip to Concordia, Kansas, for a 4:30 p.m. kick-off against second place Cloud County Community College (6-2-1, 9-4-1).

A spectacular shake and bake move gave the Cougars the lead ten minutes into the opening frame as Ebrahim Diagne connected on Ricardo Sepulveda's long pass rattling the nets dead center target for his eighth of the year.

Continuing to pressure and threaten throughout the opening half, Cougar freshman Kai Ishimaru provided some insurance taking advantage of an uncleared deflected cross attempt to lase the nets for the fifth time on the season striking far post.

Sensing their second consecutive Jayhawk West title, Raul Gonzalez provided the final dagger with a little over thirty minutes to play in shaping his first collegiate goal from the left flank to beat Pratt's Clayton Scott top shelf on the back post.

Cougar net protector Marco Seyfert rejected the only shot attempt he faced through seventy-five minutes on an eight yard 1v1 shot before handing off the final fifteen minutes to reserve keeper Samuel Chantre.

Offensively Barton launched the sphere twenty-nine times to Pratt's two while holding a 14-1 shot advantage on target.
