The Barton Community College men's soccer team grinded out a hard fought win on the pitch Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex, holding on to a one goal lead until a late insurance net shaker provided a 2-0 victory over Garden City Community College.

The victory improves the 8th ranked Cougars to 6-0-0 in conference play and 9-0-1 on the season while dropping Garden City to 3-3-0 in league play and 4-6-0 overall. Barton will conclude a three game homestead Saturday against Hesston College in a 4:30 p.m. kick-off.

Controlling possession from the outset, Barton had countless opportunities to put the game's first tally on the board before a 10:25 penalty kick provided the best chance as Kai Ishimaru was tripped up in the box splitting two defenders. The Cougars' leading scorer Gabrielle Privitera took the penalty shot but the laser caromed off the post keeping the sheet clean.

Launching thirteen shots in first half action, the Cougars finally broke through on one of their five shots on frame as Valdyslav Peretyatko put away the perfect combination passing from Ishimaru and Sebastian Kennedy to drill far post with forty-eight ticks on the clock.

With Garden City packed in the defensive end of the field, the Cougars again controlled most of the possessions but couldn't crack the second half egg in six shots until freshman Lapo Carradori rattled the upper-30 post with just seventeen seconds remaining for his first collegiate goal giving Privitera his team leading ninth assist.

Marco Seyfert improved to 8-0-1 on the season keeping one Garden City attempt out of the net as the Cougar defensive line allowed just two total shots in posting the club's eighth consecutive shutout.

Offensively the Cougars launched the sphere twenty times to the Broncbusters' two with a 9-1 shots on frame advantage.
