The 15th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team produced another stout defensive effort Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex to own a 2-0 victory over Dodge City Community College.

Earning their fifth straight shutout and fourth consecutive win, the Cougars improve to a conference best 3-0-0 and 6-0-1 on the season while handing Dodge City their first loss of the season slipping to 1-1-0 in the Jayhawk and 3-1-1 overall. Barton's next test is Wednesday in a 4:00 p.m. kick at Pratt Community College.

Battling a strong south wind in the opening frame, the Barton offense made the most of its two legitimate attacks as Ebrahim Diagne flew horizontal in heading home a beautiful cross sent off the boot of Tyrick Sutherland beating the Conquistadors' keeper Rafael Ribeiro Callegari far post for the eventual game winner in the 18th minute.

In the second half, freshman Valdyslav Peretyatko provided Barton with some cushion in the 60th minute, rattling the nets far post for his fourth goal of the year giving Gabrielle Privitera's team leading fifth assist.

A continuously improving Barton defensive line kept the Conquistadors at bay allowing just one shot on target as net protector Marco Seyfert thwarted the attempt midway through the second half. Seyfert, the reigning KJCCC and National NJCAA goalkeeper of the week, earned his fourth shutout on the season in goal as the Cougar defense extended the scoreless streak to 520 minutes.
