Cougar men use strong second half stretching shutout streak to three #GoBarton

Barton's Kai Ishimaru and the Cougars celebrate his 1st collegiate goal giving Barton 1-0 lead with 42:43 left

The Barton Community College men's soccer team used two second half goals Sunday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex, extending their winning streak to three in a 2-0 victory over Rose State College.

The Cougars improve to 4-0-1 on the young season, while the Raiders drop to 2-2-0. Barton will head back out on the road Wednesday evening in returning to conference play for a 7:30 p.m. kick at Hesston College.

Barton broke the scoreless deadlock just two minutes into the second frame as freshman Kai Ishimaru rattled the nets for his first collegiate goal beating the Rose State goalkeeper Gage Powers near post. The play was set up by a perfect right wing cross from Sebastian Kennedy as Gabrielle Privitera's one-touch pass set Ishimaru up to blast the twine.

Approaching the 85th minute, Privitera broke away from the Rose State defense and was taken out in the box by Powers. Stepping to the twelve yard mark for the third time of the season, Privitera stayed perfect on the awarded shot netting home his team leading sixth goal.

Goalkeeper Marco Seyfert and the Cougars' defense line continued to hold strong posting their third straight shutout holding the Raiders at bay in coming off an eight goal output at Region VI foe Coffeyville the day prior.
