Barton men chalk up consecutive shutout victory #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's soccer team combined a solid defensive effort behind a pair of first half goals Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex to earn a 3-0 victory over Western Texas College.

Notching their second consecutive shutout, the Cougars improve to 3-0-1 on the season while dropping the Westerners to 0-2-0 overall. Barton will have a quick turnaround as they conclude the weekend homestead with a 4:30 p.m. kick against Rose State College Sunday afternoon.

Net finder Gabrielle Privitera broke open the scoring twelve minutes into the contest by curling a free kick just outside the eighteen to the far post for his team leading fifth goal of the season.

The Cougars continued their aggressive offensive game plan adding an insurance goal just eleven minutes later when Akira Yoshida sent a thru ball to the middle of the field finding sophomore Ebrahim Diagne wide open blasting a screamer ricocheting off the cross bar and into the nets.

Playing with a man advantage for nearly fifty-five minutes in the contest, Valdyslave Peretyatko put the final touches on Western Texas by rattling the nets for the second time this season beating the keeper Edgar Rodriguez far post to deliver home Heejun An's through ball for his first collegiate assist.

Marco Seyfert kept the sheet clean for seventy-one minutes before giving way to Samuel Chantre for the final twelve-plus minutes as the duo combined for four rejects of the net before lightning forced the end of the contest with 6:09 on the clock.
