Barton’s Baeza earns third weekly conference award #GoBarton

Barton men's soccer goalkeeper Felipe Baeza

Felipe Baeza of the Barton Community College men's soccer team has been named the KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time in eight weeks of the season.

Baeza improved to 10-0 in goal on the season securing two road conference shutouts as the now 4th ranked Cougars marked their tenth clean sheet of the year. In Wednesday's narrow 1-0 win at Dodge City, Baeza turned back three shots on goal before rejecting another four on Saturday in Barton's first win at Pratt since 2012 and the freshman from Chile's eighth anchored shut out of the year.

The nation's fourth ranked defense, Barton is now 9-0-1 in conference play and 13-1-1 on the season heading into Wednesday's winner-take-all Jayhawk West conference title game in hosting Cloud County Community College (10-1, 11-4) in a 4:00 p.m. kick-off. Receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, the T-birds will be looking to avenge Barton's 2-1 come-from-behind victory in mid-September's classic battle in Concordia.
