The Barton Community College men's soccer team grinded out a hard fought win on the pitch Monday at the Cougar Soccer Complex, holding on to a one goal lead until a late insurance net shaker provided a 2-0 victory over Garden City Community College.

The victory improves the Cougars to 2-0-1 in the Jayhawk and 6-1-1 overall while the Broncbusters fall to 1-2-0 and 4-3-0 on the season. Barton will wrap up its four game home stand on Wednesday in a 4:00 p.m. kick versus Pratt Community College.

Diego Ribeiro, who placed a memorable first collegiate goal last Wednesday against Hesston, pushed the rewind button in an almost carbon copy free kick goal, launching a curved shot over the Broncbuster wall from nineteen yards out to strike upper 90 to crack the scoreboard goose egg with 9:42 remaining in first half action.

The Cougars controlled second half action but couldn't add to their lead despite launching twenty-one shots with eight on frame.  The last shot did finally break through and give the Cougars some cushion with 1:10 left as the conference's leading scorer Gabriel Arraes struck lower near frame for his ninth of the year giving Damen Marcu his second assist of the year.

Felipe Baeza stayed perfect in goal turning back three Broncbuster shots improving to 3-0 and preserving the Cougars' sixth shutout of the season.
