The Barton Community College men's soccer team opened the 2018 season Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex, tacking on a pair of second half goals to win 3-0 over State Fair Community College to avenge last season's last second overtime loss in Sedalia.

The Cougars' next action comes on Wednesday as Barton travels to Snyder, Texas, for a 4:00 p.m. kick at Western Texas College.

Racking up nine points behind four goals in last season's opener, Colin Roemer accounted for two of the Cougars' goals, the first coming with just under twenty-two minutes left in first half action finding fellow sophomore Gabriel Arraes in beating a pair of defenders and the keeper for the eventual game winner.

Emporia freshman Mario Magana teamed up with Roemer to give the Cougars a two goal lead twelve minutes into second half play, sending in a cross with Roemer heading it to a wide open Robin Rouaud for the France freshman's first collegiate goal.

The Cougars executed another perfect play to put the cap on the scoring with 6:34 remaining as Roberto Hernandez controlled an outgoing pass at the eighteen, finding Ruben Torres for a one-touch back across the box. Waiting on the door step was Aidan Hill, left foot touching to the center of the net to register the Illinois redshirt freshman's first collegiate goal.
