Final round charge leaps Barton men's golf into third place of Central Kansas Classic #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's golf team rallied in the final round of the Central Kansas Classic to grab third place at the two-day event held at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course.

The Cougars sat in the fourth spot of the six-team leaderboard with Monday rounds of 3-5 and 309 but fired a 294 in Tuesday morning's final round to leapfrog into the third position with a 68-over 908. Fellow Region VI member Garden City Community College ran away with the team title with four of the top five golfers compiling an 8-over 848. Host Central Christian College was twenty strokes better than the Cougars for the second spot while Hesston College finished eight strokes in Barton in fourth.

William Barnak was the lone Cougar in the top ten of the thirty-eight man field, climbing five spots behind a 1-over 71 final round to a 7th place tie at 11-over 221.

Barton's next meet is Monday in a road trip to Wentzville, Missouri, to compete in the two-day Crossroads JUCO Invitational held at The Golf Club of Wentzville.
