The Barton Community College men's golf team had a tough Monday on the course at Wichita's Crestview Country Club with the final round opportunity to redeem getting wiped off the board due to Mother Nature leaving the 21st ranked Cougars in the fifth spot of the KJCCC Championship.

Playing without its top golfer in Kelby Titus due to injury, the Cougars struggled to a morning round of 319 but still couldn't shake the funk in the afternoon round either by posting a two stroke higher 321 round.

The 72-over 640 score left Barton seventeen strokes behind Hesston College's 623 but held on to the spot by edging out Kansas City Kansas Community College by three strokes.

Barton men's golfer Ryotaro Tsuji lines up a putt Just two Cougars cracked the top twenty of the forty-five man field with William Barnak the high placer with a 13-over 155 (77-78) in tying for the 16th spot while Ryotaro Tsuji's consistent rounds of 78-79 placed in the 18th spot log jam at 15-over 157.

Adam Price made the biggest change and improvement into the afternoon's round by posting the team's best second eighteen score of 6-over 77 to move ten places up the board after an 87 to post a tourney 31st slot 22-over 164.

Playing as individuals, the brothers Panupong Chuaychoo and Takerngsak Chuaychoo also moved up with solid second round scores finishing tied for 33rd at 23-over 165 as Panupong posted 84-81 rounds while Takerngsak shaved five strokes off an opening 85 in posting a 9-over 80 round.

Inside the top twenty with an opening 8-over 79, Renan Laveissiere struggled in the afternoon session carding an 87 to fall into a 35th place tie at 24-over 166 with Zach Schissler rounding out the team entries with 85-88 scores in placing 41st at 31-over 173.

Barton's next action will be the Region VI/District III Championships held next Monday and Tuesday, April 29-30, at the Wild Horse Golf Course in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
