The 21st ranked Barton Community College men's golf team got off to a great start with a two stroke lead after the opening round of the KJCCC's second meet of the season, before cooling off the final two rounds at Newton's Sand Creek Station Golf Course slipping into a third place overall standing after Tuesday's final eighteen holes.

The Cougars sat atop the leaderboard after Monday morning's first round by firing a 302. As the wind and temperatures climbed during the afternoon round, the 10th ranked and eventual tournament winner Hutchinson Community College leaped up the leaderboard with a seventeen stroke improvement to post a 295 score as Barton slipped two back in the standings with a 307. The Cougars continued to cool off in Tuesday's final round with a 314 to drop another spot in finishing the tournament at 59-over 923.
