23rd ranked Cougar golf rallies for Sterling College Shootout victory #GoBarton

Barton men's golf members in top ten of Sterling College Fall Halloween Shootout

The 23rd ranked Barton Community College men's golf team rallied from a six stroke deficit to win by eighteen strokes Tuesday at the Sterling College Fall Halloween Shootout held at Hutchinson's Carey Park Golf Course.

In second place after Monday's 301 round, the Cougars shined despite windy conditions in the final round to card its second best score of the fall season in a combined 9-over 293 in finishing at 32-over 600 for the tournament while also taking the top three individual placings.

Barton men's golfer Kelby Titus after winning the Sterling College Fall Halloween Shootout Great Bend's Kelby Titus continued his hot streak of the sophomore's season winning his second straight tournament firing a 1-under 70 final round to climb five spots up the leaderboard after a 77 for a winning 5-over 147.

Renan Laveissiere held off teammate Ryotaro Tsuji for the runner-up spot, opening with a 75 and following with a 74 for a 7-over 149. Tsuji, who was tied for 6th after a 77 opening round, moved up the board with the twenty-one man field's second best round of the tournament of a 2-over 73 for an 8-over 150 total.

Panupong Chuaychoo led the second squad of Cougars by putting together consistent rounds of 76 and 77 for an 11-over 153 to tie for 5th with twin brother Takerngsak Chuaychoo finishing a stroke behind in 7th at 12-over 154 after 78 and 76 rounds.

Rounding out the first team of Cougars, Adam Price improved on his opening 80 on the card with a 77 which was good for a 9th place tie at 15-over 157.

Sterling College's "B" team, which held the lead after a 301, fell to the second spot after a 317 round for a 618. Fellow KJCCC member Allen County Community College had the day's second best round of 314 but an opening 319 left the Red Devils settling for third at 633 with Barton's second squad of Cougars were eleven strokes behind with 323 and 319 rounds to compile a 642.

The victory sends Barton into the off-season through the rest of the fall semester before returning to the links next spring.
