Final round charge not enough as Barton men's golf season comes to an end in district play

The Barton Community College men's golf team concluded the three-day action of the Region VI and District III Championships on Tuesday with its best of three rounds but fell three strokes shy of a possible national tournament berth. The No. 16 ranked Cougars closed with a combined 9-over 297 at Topeka’s Firekeeper Golf Course, placing sixth on the nationally packed leaderboard, finishing their tournament and season with a 943. Needing to at least place ahead of national host Garden City Community College to possibly receive an at-large berth, the Cougars’ year ends with the district finish and fourth placing in the Region VI standings.
