Barton Golf finishes second at Fall Midwest Invitational

The Barton Community College men's golf team finished second today at the Sterling College Fall Midwest Invitational held at Hutchinson's Carey Park Golf Course.   The Cougars trailed Dodge City Community College by four strokes after Monday's first eighteen holes but the Conquistadors seven stroke improvement on the second day opened up a twelve shot final advantage.   Barton will wrap up play in the fall portion of the schedule on their home course hosting the Barton Invitational on Monday, October 19, at StoneRidge Golf Club.

The Cougars began play on Monday with a 295 improving by four strokes during Tuesday's final round posting their fourth consecutive sub-300 round of the season finishing the tournament with a 586 thirty-six hole total.  The Conquistadors left little room for the Cougars to make a charge extending their 291 four stroke advantage firing a 283 on Tuesday for the twelve shot victory.

Tied for the lead after the first day firing a 1-under par 69, Natchapol "Putter" Srinoon's slipped into a second place tie carding a 2-over par 72.   Dodge City's Cole Christian, who trailed both Srinoon and teammate Kantapong Chaisiriwichian by one after Monday, fired a tournament low 2-under 68 to grab the individual title by three strokes.  The Cougars' Jakkapat Horsangchai finished in a tie for fourth with a 71-73 4-over par tournament.

Blake Huxman led three Cougars with an improved final round following up an opening 79 round with a 73 finishing in a tie for 15th at 12-over par 152.  Seokhunh Kang bounced back from an uncharacteristic 83 closing with a 73 finishing in 20th place with a 14-over 154.  Competing as an individual, Andrew Iverson had the largest improvement from day one shaving off thirteen strokes from his 84 firing a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday finishing tied for 21st with a 15-over 155.

Shooting a 76 and tied for 14th after the first day, Jared Oelke tumbled down the standings into a 28th place tie with an 83 completing the tournament at 19-over 159.   Jestin Jackson round out the Barton entries with rounds of 82 and 84 to finish at 26-over 166 for a 37th place tie.
