Barton men’s golf opens season with second place finish

The Barton Community College men's golf team opened up its 2015-16 season finishing second in the Central Kansas Classic.   Held in windy conditions the past couple of days at McPherson's Turkey Creek Golf Course, the Cougars led by two after the first thirty-six holes but had a tough final eighteen slipping to second place.  Shooting a 942 team score (+102), the Cougars surrendered eighteen strokes on the final day to Sterling College.   

Barton placed four golfers in the top ten led by defending conference champion Natchapol "Putter" Srinoon's fifth place 231 (+21).  Fellow sophomore Andrew Iverson, who competed as an individual placed sixth with a 236 (+26) edging out freshman Seokuhn Kang's 237 (+27).  Slipping from the fourth spot after the first thirty-six holes, Jakkapat Horsangchai's 230 (+30) was still good enough to grab the tenth spot on the individual chart.

Tied with Horsanchai after the first day, Jestin Jackson also had a tough second day to drop in the standings finishing in 11th with a 243 (+33) while fellow sophomore Blake Huxman's 249 (+39) came in 20th.  

Like the women, the men will take a couple weeks away from competition until heading to Salina's Municipal Golf Course September 28-29 for the Kansas Wesleyan University Invitational.
