Cougar bowlers place 8th at Hammer Lions Classic #GoBarton

Barton men's bowler Creyton Nisly

The Barton Community College men's bowling team returned back to the lanes with an eighth place finish this past weekend at the 11th Annual Hammer Lions Classic held in St. Charles, Missouri.

After tallying a total of 6041 pins through individual play and the Baker rounds, the Cougar men secured their spot as the eighth seed in the eleven team Sunday bracket field falling just 39 pins shy of sixth seeded Ancilla College.

Bracket play was unfriendly to the Cougars as Barton fell behind dropping the opening game 139-131 to fifth seed Upper Iowa, ralled to tie the match rather easily by a 162-128 score, but fell just a pin shy of the upset falling 179-178. The Cougars run on the consolation side would be short lived as 11th seed Lincoln College needed just two games by winning 195-153 and 147-136 bouncing Barton from competition.

Individually, Barton was led by freshman Creyton Nisly's 30th place in the 119-man field while Benjamin Banks finished just eight spots back in the 38th position.

Freshman John Adams recorded the best bowled round for the Cougars rolling a 236 in his rolled six games.

Nisly and Cort Schwerdtfeger tied for team high honors rolling an average score of 182 per game.

Barton's next action will be closer to home as the Cougars compete in the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge held Saturday and Sunday at Royal Crest Lanes in Lawrence, KS.
