Barton's Gildyard earns final week's conference player honor #GoBarton

Mavrick Gildyard of the Barton Community College men's basketball team has been named the KJCCC Division I Men's Player of the Week for week sixteen of the season.

Gildyard was a consistent force for the Cougars last week, staying on the floor for 35.5 minutes in the pair of games in averaging 21 points with 62.9% shooting helping Barton reach the quarterfinal round of the Region VI playoffs. Beginning the week with a career high twenty-five points including a perfect seven tosses from the charity stripe leading Barton to a first round win over Cloud County, Gildyard wound up his Barton career on Sunday in the quarterfinal loss to Coffeyville with a seventeen point and nine rebound effort in coming up just shy of his fourth double-double of the season.

The 4th seeded Cougars' abrupt end in the playoffs completed the 2019-20 campaign at 23-9 after earning Head Coach Craig Fletchall's 450th career collegiate victory in the first round to top 23 or more wins ten times in his fifteen years at the Barton helm.

The award is the second on the season by the Cougars as freshman Keandre Bowles earned the honor is week twelve.
