Barton men lock down second place with victory over Garden City, Cougars host home playoff game on Wednesday #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's basketball team shook off Garden City Community College Saturday night at the Barton Gym, pulling away with a double digit lead for the final ten minutes for a 101-80 victory to wrap up the regular season.

Snapping its lone two-game losing streak of the season, the Cougars topped triple figures for the eighth time improving to 26-8 and wrapping up second place of the Jayhawk West at 14-7.
Garden City's fourth straight loss dropped the Broncbusters to 9-21 on the year in slipping to a sixth play tie at 3-18.

The Cougars begin the post-season on Wednesday as the 4th seed, hosting 13th seeded Cloud County Community College (3-17, 10-20). Tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. with free admission being offered.  Should Barton win, the Cougars advance to Dodge City's United Wireless Arena in Sunday's 3:00 p.m. game against the winner of 5th seeded Coffeyville versus 12th seed Dodge City.

Six Cougars hit double figures on the night led by Jaheim Holden's twenty-one points on 8-of-11 shooting including 4-of-4 behind the arc and dishing out six assists. Desean Munson also had a solid all-around effort, perfect from the field in six attempts and four from the charity strip to finish with sixteen and one board shy of a double-double performance. Martin Vogts' 50% shooting led to a fifteen point night as Diovonte Caldwell added thirteen, Anthony Atkinson-Enneking with eleven, and Justin Harmon contributing ten. Mavrick Gildyard and Jarin Koehler rounded out the scoring with eight and seven points respectively.

Traylynn Spencer led Garden City with eighteen points and six rebounds with Tahlik Chavez next in line with sixteen behind 3-of-7 behind the arc. Michael Frazier gave the Broncbusters a lift off the bench burying 4-of-6 from long distance with Derrick Bryant adding twelve.
