Barton men's basketball player Keandre Bowles dribbles up court

Keandre Bowles of the Barton Community College men's basketball team has been named the KJCCC Division I Men's Player of the Week for week twelve of the season.

Bowles carried on his recent torrid stretch into this past week leading Barton to a pair of road conference victories. Averaging 29 points on nearly 70% shooting from the field, Bowles began the week with a career high thirty-one points including converting an And-1 midway through overtime putting Barton out in front for good in its 102-95 overtime win at fellow nationally receiving votes Hutchinson.

This past Saturday provided a "trap game" of sorts for the Bowles and the Cougars but both responded on the road in Garden City with the freshman putting on a 27 point, 11-of-14 shooting performance leading Barton to a school record 76.9% from the field and third most point total in the NBA style 129-101 victory.

Tied atop the Jayhawk West standings at 11-3, the nationally receiving votes Cougars are 19-4 on the season.

Barton begins their second trip around the West division on Wednesday hosting Pratt Community College with the women tipping off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's contest slated for 7:30 p.m.

The Barton women sit in third place of the standings at 8-6 and 12-11 overall with Pratt on the Cougars' heels at 7-7 and 13-10 on the season.

On the men's side the Cougars will put their four game win streak on the line in looking to avenge its January 13th 91-80 loss on the Beavers' home floor as Barton was ranked 17th nationally at the time. Pratt, tied for third place in the standings with Hutchinson at 8-6, will be trying to improve on its 14-9 in coming off a loss to 22nd ranked Colby.
