Barton men weathers the storm in 108-67 victory in Best Western Booster Club Classic #GoBarton

The Barton Community College men's basketball team jumped out to a twenty-five point halftime lead Friday night at the Barton Gym in going on to a 108-67 blowout over the Oklahoma City Storm concluding day one action of the Best Western/Cougar Booster Club Basketball Classic.

Barton's fourth triple-digit output improves the Cougars to 5-1 on the season heading into Saturday evening's 7:30 p.m. toss up against nationally receiving votes Monroe College as the Mustangs fell to 2-1 earlier in the day by dropping a 114-91 contest to 7th ranked Hutchinson Community College.

Five Cougars reached double-figures with Justin Harmon and Jaheim Holden led the charge as each finishing with a game high sixteen. Martin Vogts tallied fourteen off the bench behind 4-of-5 shooting from long distance with Desean Munson and Anthony Enneking rounding out the double-figure scoring finishing with ten apiece.

Mavrick Gildyard came just a point and rebound shy of a double-double performance pulling down a game high nine boards helping Barton to a fourteen board edge on the glass.

The Storm had a pair reaching double-digit scoring as Naquan Hopkins put in fourteen and Tre Payne adding eleven with Will Graham and Shamar Hill a point short in scoring nine points each.

Day two of the Classic continues Saturday as the 7th ranked Blue Dragons will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. against Iowa Western as their women's squad takes on Jefferson in the 1:00 p.m. opener.

The Barton Lady Cougars, fresh off a 76-71 overtime victory over Jefferson, tips at 5:30 p.m. versus Labette Community College who dropped a 64-49 contest against No. 7 Hutchinson.
