Barton men get defensive in winning sixth straight, defeat Independence 63-46

Finding a way to combat a subpar offensive night, the Barton Community College men’s basketball team turned defensive with a 63-46 victory over Independence Community College Wednesday evening at the Barton Gym. Being held to its second lowest point total of the season, the Cougars turned the tide holding the Pirates to its lowest offensive output cruising to the seventeen point victory. Winners of six straight the Cougars remain unbeaten in conference play at 5-0 while improving to 13-3 on the season dropping Independence to 2-4 in the Jayhawk and 11-4 overall. Barton returns to the road where the Cougars have already won three straight to open conference play heading to Chanute, Kansas, on Saturday for a 4:00 p.m. tip at Neosho County Community College.
