Key named Jayhawk Conference men’s basketball player of the week

For the second time this conference season, Barton Community College men’s basketball player Algie Key has been named the KJCCC Verizon Wireless Player of the Week. The sophomore from Decatur, Georgia, did whatever it took to help his No. 25 ranked Cougars get a couple of victories this past week. In Wednesday’s victory over Dodge City, Key scored 30 points and grabbed 6 rebounds marking the third time this season and sixth in his career to surpass a thirty-point performance. Saturday in the Cougars win over Garden City, Key adjusted his role to post a double-double ten point eleven rebound performance to go along with dishing out six assists marking the fifth time this season and twelfth of Key’s career to put up a double-double performance. Sharing the weekly honor with Seward County Community College’s Kaheem Ransom, Key’s performances averaged 50% shooting from the field, 77.8% from the free throw line while averaging 20 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per contest.
