Cougar basketball tops century mark for third time in 121-67 victory over Tabor College JV

The Barton Community College men's basketball team kept its streak of eclipsing the century mark intact as the Cougars defeated Tabor College Junior Varsity Tuesday night 121-67 at the Barton Gym.  With the victory Barton improves to 3-0 on the early season but will face its toughest test this weekend.  The Cougars travel to Salina for the Salina Classic to play Kansas Wesleyan JV at 3:00 pm. on Friday then face the always tough Brown Mackie Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. 

Highlights 
The Cougars placed seven of its seven of twelve players in double figures but more impressive was the distributing of the scoring opportunities.  The Cougars dished out forty assists on their fifty-three field goals while committing only eleven turnovers. 

Leading the Cougars in double digit scoring was Darius Hill with 21 points on 10-of-10 shooting while also collecting seven rebounds all on the defensive end.  Carl Wallace also had a big night with a double-double as he scored 15 points and 10 rebounds.  Scoring 14 points each were Algie Key, Andell Cumberbatch, and Dwayne Brunson.  Other double-digit scoring came from Jonathan Pittman with 13 and Turon Parker with 10.  Brunson, who grabbed 9 rebounds, and Parker, who dished out nine assists, both just missed out on reaching a double-double night. 

As a team Barton shot 57 percent on 53-of-93 field goal attempts and outscored Tabor 80-38 in points in the paint.  After holding Tabor to 24 percent shooting in the first half and 38 percent for the game, the Cougars forced 22 turnovers while only committing 11. 

Leading four Bluejays in double-digit scoring was Quinter High School product Matt Bird with 13 points.  Nic Leppke and AJ Wiens each scored 11 while Cody Arnold contributed 10.
