Esports concludes fall regular season, begins post-season this week #GoBarton

The regular season wrapped up last week for the Barton Community College esports program with the Cougars competing this week in its inaugural post-season debut.

Barton will send its Fortnite crew and top Madden 21 player into the playoffs slated to begin at 6:00 p.m. today.

Davon Morris, the top or second ranked Madden player for most of the season, will look to rebound from a disappointing end to the regular season in dropping his last contest 2-0 to No. 2 Bryant and Stratton College 32-15 and a shootout 51-27 score. Seeded 5th for the playoffs, Morris will take on 4th ranked Iowa Central Community College either today or tomorrow in the NJCAA Quarterfinal round. The winner of the best-of-three will advance to Thursday's same format semifinals with the Championship best-of-five slated for Thursday, December 17.

Today is also the championship battle in Fortnite as Trent Keffer, Adam Hardin, and Elijah Payne competes at 6:00 p.m.

Last week's results saw a couple of losses for the Rainbow 6 Siege and Rocket League teams. The 6th ranked Siege squad dropped a pair of tough 7-5 battles to 9th ranked Northern Virginia Community College while 26th ranked Rocket League went down 4-0 to No. 28 Iowa Central by narrow 1-0, 2-0, 3-2, and 3-2 scores.

Coming off a great week prior, the Madden 21 players came up empty last week. Morris dropped his pair of games as did 6th ranked Corey Hale in falling 2-0 to 8th ranked Nassau Community College 22-13 and 34-7. In a tangle of Cougars, 14th ranked Brayden Clare and 22nd ranked Anthony Twiggs played to a 1-1 draw.

The week was also a tough one for the Super Smash Brothers crew as 67th ranked Landon Robl lost 4-1 to 68th ranked Hinds Community College while 149th ranked Bryce Boltman lost 4-0 to 162nd ranked Iowa Central.
