Baseball's Alex Rodgers KJCCC and NJCAA Week 10 Player of the Week

Alex Rodgers of the Barton Community College baseball team has been named the week 10 KJCCC and NJCAA Baseball Division I Player of the Week.

Rodgers was instrumental in the Cougars' 5-1 week, batting .765 (13-of-17) with six extra base hits (four doubles, a triple and homerun) while driving in 12 RBIs. The sophomore recorded a hit in every contest, turning in multi-hits in five of the six games while never striking out.

The Omaha, Nebraska product held an .808 on-base percentage creating havoc for the defense scoring 14 times and recording 12 steals in his 13 attempts including a 4-for-4 day in Thursday's split at Seared County becoming the Cougars single season record holder at 41.

Sitting with 45 swipes on the year, Rodgers stands atop the KJCCC and seven back off the NJCAA lead with 15 contests remaining.

It is the second time in the last three weeks that Rodgers has won the award and third time in his career.

Entering their conference bye week, Barton will head on the road Thursday to open a four game non-conference tilt against the Red Ravens of Coffeyville Community College. First pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Walter Johnson Park with the series concluding Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. from Lawson-Biggs Field.
