Longivew carries momentum to sweep Saturday's doubleheader

The Lakers scored four unearned runs in the first inning, all coming with two outs against Barton hurler Skylar Hill.  After a three-and-out second inning, MCC-Longview chased Hill and three other Cougar pitchers by putting up ten runs in taking a commanding 14-0 lead after three innings.

Aaron Gile led off the Barton fourth with a single to right field.  Dylan Turpin and Nate Train followed with walks then after a Tito Andino strikeout, Caleb Cherryholmes' bases loaded single to right field gave the Cougars their first run.

MCC-Longview answered in the home half behind two doubles to left field, a Brett Graham double to lead off the inning then a batter later, an Ian Barker double to score Graham.

Barton tried to mount a comeback in the fifth inning started by a one-out double by Jace Bowman followed by Gile's third hit of the day, a single to right field.  The Cougars would score three in the inning but not enough as the Lakers held on for the 15-4 run rule victory.

Hill dropped to 1-2 on the season giving up four earned runs as MCC-Longview scored ten runs in chasing him out of the game in the third inning scoring a total of ten runs.  Thomas Boucher earned the win for the Lakers pitching 4.0 innings of three-hit ball to improve to 2-0 on the season.
