Adams to play baseball for Cougars in 2005
The Barton County Community College baseball team signed in-state prospect Robbie Adams to play baseball for them next season. Adams was among the 1st group of players to sign to play for Barton next season. Adams will be a senior at Goddard High School this springs, where he plays shortstop for the Lions.
Adams has started all 3 years of high school for Goddard, steadily improving his numbers each season. As a freshman, Adams hit .347 with 8 RBI and 2 stolen bases. Those numbers increased to .378 with 17 RBI and 14 stolen bases as a sophomore before topping the .400-mark last season, hitting .403 with 2 homers, 23 RBI, and 8 stolen bases. In addition the slick-fielding shortstop had a .932 fielding percentage.
Those numbers placed him on the 2nd All-Chisholm Trail League as a shortstop his junior season and a 2nd team All-State selection as a designated hitter. Adams was an honorable mention Chisholm Trail pick his sophomore season. Goddard took 4th at the 5A state tournament his sophomore year and 3rd as a junior.
During the summer, Adams played for the Wichita Sluggers, Tornadoes, Jets, and Wreckers since 1990. He was selected to the 16-year old USSSA Major All-Tournament Team and was the 12-year home run champion in the NBC World Series.
